Access to Information Request - Breach of Constitutional Rights of Jamaicans by the Government

The United Independents' Congress has sent an official letter requesting access to information in relation to civil cases brought against the Government of Jamaica for breaches of constitutional rights for the period February 2016 to Present.

Attn. Mrs. Marlene Malahoo Forte, Under the Access to Information Act of 2002 giving Jamaican citizens the legal right to access some official government documents. I hereby give notice of my intent to assert this right conferred under said legislation. In the interest of the vital and fundamental democratic principles to be upheld by this act, I hereby make the following request for information held by your office for the period February 2016 to the date of this letter; 1. A listing of civil cases brought against the government for the breach of constitutional rights that have been settled and the settlement amount. 2. A listing of civil cases brought against the government for breach of constitutional rights that have been adjudicated and the judgment amount. 3. A listing of civil cases brought against the government for breach of constitutional rights that is pending. 4. A listing of civil cases brought against the government for breach of constitutional rights under the State of Emergency or Zone of Special Operation during the period in question that have been settled and the settlement amount.
